According to Deadline.com, Taylor Lautner has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Max Steel, an action movie based on the Mattel action figure line and animated series that ran from 2000-2002.
Steel is a 19-year-old extreme sports athlete who is recruited by a government agency after an accident leaves him with superpowers.
Paramount has…hired 8-pack-abs Taylor Lautner for the lead in Max Steel, instantly creating perhaps the next young big action star. (The Twilight Saga phenom is only 17 years old, and the Summit Entertainment folks predicted to me a year ago that he’d end up in demand for this kind of role after he bulked up for New Moon.)
The article also notes that the movie will aim to appeal to all audiences and have an Iron Man-like feel.
It’s a huge breakthrough for Taylor and one that, after seeing him in New Moon, I think most of us can agree he totally deserves!
