Blasting past expectations, The Twilight Saga: New Moon made an estimated $140 million in its first three days of release.
Just last week we mentioned that while insiders predicted the movie might make $85-100 million, we figured it would do more than that. But $140 million? That’s phenomenal.
New Moon made $72.7 million on Friday, $43.2 million on Saturday, and is expected to make $24.8 million by the end of today.
If those numbers hold, that makes it the third best opening weekend of all time, behind only The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3.
