Kellan Lutz on When Breaking Dawn Might Start

November 18, 2009

Kellan LutzKellan Lutz talked to AICN about his experiences on Twilight and actually dropped quite a bit of info on Breaking Dawn.  Not anything official, because he hasn’t heard anything official, but he has a few educated guesses.

Usually it’s pretty funny, because a lot of times us actors find out that we are green lit for the next movie, and we kind of have to keep it hush-hush, so we play it like “Oh no, we don’t know.” Honestly, I can say truthfully, scouts’ honor we have no idea. They have not come to us. They haven’t said anything.

I read somewhere that Robert Pattinson let it slip at some point that he thought production would start up again next fall, but I don’t know if he was just guessing.

I would say the same thing. I don’t think they can wait too long, because we are vampires who can’t age, so I would say around September also and maybe even in Portland again or Vancouver, because you need the weather also. We can only shoot when the weather is cloudy. You can’t really shoot in the summertime when it’s nice and the sun’s out and we can’t shoot when it’s December, when it’s freezing and snowing and raining everyday, so it’s a good guesstimation that we would shoot around the same time that we just did Eclipse. I think we all just want to do it.

That plan will probably hold unless they split Breaking Dawn into two movies.  And the thing is: when New Moon comes out in a few days and makes a crazy amount of money, Summit Entertainment is going to want to split it into two movies, because it’s two guaranteed hits.

But they do have to make sure the cast doesn’t get too old, so expect them to come up with a decision pretty quickly after New Moon opens.

What’s the point of splitting Breaking Dawn into two movies. It’s not like The seventh Harry Potter film, in the sense that the book wasn’t close to 700-800 pages like Harry Potter, so there is relly no need to make BD into two films… it’s more obvious as an excuse for money, where in the case of HP 7… it is a HUGE book and the last one, so they probably want to add in as much as they can for the fans.
