‘Vampire Diaries’ A Huge Hit!

September 11, 2009

vampire-diariesWith Twilight still all the rage for teens and HBO’s True Blood occupying adults, most people thought there wasn’t room for another vampire saga.  But they were wrong.  The Vampire Diaries, which premiered on the CW last night, turned out to be a huge hit!

The first episode had 4.9 million viewers.  That beats what 90210 did last year, and it’s about twice what Gossip Girl usually gets.

The show stars Paul Wesley, from Everwood; Ian Somerhalder, from Lost; and Nina Dobrev, from the hit Canadian teen show Degrassi: The Next Generation.

I thought the show was good, not great, but they changed a lot from the books which I wasn’t really expecting. So maybe after a few more episodes, I’ll get into it more and not be thinking about the changes so much. It will be interesting to see how the story goes forward and how much more it deviates from the books. I do think that Stephan looks quite a bit older than he should be, he doesn’t look like he’s high school age at all.

I think the show was great. They did change a lot of things from the books, but it was still wonderful. Cant wait to see next weeks.
