The L.A. Times reports that Summit Entertainment has reached out to Stephen Daldry to see if he’d be interested in directing The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (both parts of it).
Daldry is a really classy choice. He’s directed only three films — Billy Elliot, The Hours, and The Reader — and was nominated for a Best Director Oscar for every single one of them. But would he want to take on Twilight? Among other issues, he doesn’t have any experience with special effects.
In addition to Daldry, Summit had previously reached out to directors Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, and Bill Condon. It’s unclear whether any of them are still considering the job or not.
