“Liam was into the relationship a lot more then she was,” the insider confides. “He liked being exclusive. He was serious about her and wanted to make  it work. [...] She still has strong feelings for Liam, but she still is very young and currently is career driven. She knows this is her time to shine career-wise and that love will come whenever she wants it. [...] She was a lot busier than he was, and distance also played a role in the break-up.”

Of course, there’s always hope:

We just had our final HM table read. Wow. I can’t believe it is coming to an end. I started this show as a 12 year old girl from Nashville with dreams bigger than I could handle alone! I am so blessed to have had Disney take me under their wing and lead me to where I am today!

It’s a lot darker than the Miley we’re used to, with black leather clothing, a bare midriff, and a big scowl.  Do you like the newer, edgier Miley?

Talking to Ryan Seacrest, Miley said:

He really liked it and I think for anyone that saw me write it and get involved with it and have all my ideas…It was so detailed, the way that I had it all envisioned. I think he was proud of seeing someone write, and then you look at them like they’re nuts, and then you see it all come together and go, ‘OK, that makes sense.’ … He didn’t stay on the set very long, because there was like 20 hot girl dancers. I was like, ‘You can leave now. You can watch the video when it’s all about me.’

On auditioning: “We just had really good chemistry on screen, so it worked out … she’s amazing.  She can sing, dance, and act.  It’s incredible.”

After the reporter confirms that the two are dating: “Yeah. I get nervous talking about my private life, but it’s hard to deny.  So many photos (laughs).”

He comes across as a really good guy!

When Cyrus joins Sparks in the stacks at Book Soup, he asks about her weekend: “What’d you do for fun? Out with Liam?”

Cyrus smiles widely. “At first, he was working, so I was cute,” she says. “I went and got him coffee, bought him an Elvis CD and went and gave it to him at the photo shoot.” …

Cyrus confesses that, well, she never finished the novel, originally published in hardcover last September. “With the book, I’ve only gotten through part of The Last Song,” Cyrus says sheepishly. “Because the movie started first.”

Sparks feigns being stricken, but then says: “I don’t know if I ever watched a Hannah Montana show. … Nothing personal. My daughters do every day.”

” ‘Nothing personal. I just hate her show,’ ” Cyrus says, laughing and mocking his voice.

From the first day I met her, she’s so easy to be around and to work with, she’s such a normal person.

She’s so down to earth, you can think a lot of things about what she’s going to be like and how she’s going to be like to work with and it was nothing but good things. …

I turned up on set on the first day and I saw just how big a star she was.

One end of the beach was blocked off for photographers and the other end was blocked off for her fans.

Then we did this scene and it was a fun one. We were running through the water and I had to pick her up and splash around.

The director, Julie Anne Robinson, yelled, “Kiss!” and we got thrown into a kiss.

“You never know in this business . . . but right now we’re scheduled to wrap [forever] after shooting this new batch of episodes,” Disney Channel Worldwide’s Adam Bonnett, senior VP of Programming, told the Post.

The plot of the final season will reportedly mirror Miley’s own life, as her character must decide if she is going to leave her secret double life as a pop star for the life of an everyday teen.

Of course, it’ll still be quite a while until the last episode airs; apparently there are enough episodes to keep it going through 2011.

Also popular were Malia (one of President Obama’s daughters), Rihanna, and Esme.

Among guys, no surprise: Edward shot up the list, as well as just “Cullen,” as a first name.  Would you ever consider naming your kid “Cullen”?  (Jacob has always been a popular name — in fact, it’s the most popular boy’s name of the decade — so it’s hard to tell how much of that is Twilight-influenced.)

The #1 names of the year didn’t appear to be celebrity-based or Twilight-related, though: Aiden and Madeline.  Who knew?

The real problem with this: why didn’t they do their research before?  Why pull it after nominating it?  Kind of unprofessional…

The song that replaced it among the nominees is “All is Love” by Karen O. & the Kids, which was written for Where the Wild Things Are.

Don’t feel too bad for Miley, though; songwriter Jessi Alexander wrote it, not her, so she wouldn’t have won the Grammy anyway.

Such was the case with Miley Cyrus and a few other celebrities like Lady Gaga at the Royal Variety Performance.  The audio’s not great in the video below, but according to OceanUp,  the Queen told Miley, “You look pretty.”  Very nice.

E! recently asked Shankman about the rumor, and while he denied it, he didn’t totally rule it out:

“It’s way too soon,” Shankman told me at yesterday’s Dizzy Feet Foundation event about casting Cyrus (or anyone for that matter). “I love it, though. She went to see the show and she loved it and then I had to email her and say, ‘I hear you’re starring in my movie. Fantastic! Congratulations!’ It was just so crazy. She saw the show and that was all.”

There’s not many things about me that are, like normal teenage girl. But the one normal teenage girl thing is that I think Zac Efron is the hottest person in the world. I really, really like him. And it’s weird, I’ve kind of talked about it before and been like, it’s weird because he’s my friend…I could call him and be like, whatever.

But I think also the reason that he is so sexy is because he and Vanessa [Hudgens] have been together since the first ‘High School Musical’ and I think that’s really cool. Because Zac could get any girl and all these girls are always like, you know, ‘Zac, Zac, Zac!’ and would do whatever, but he is so loyal and a really good friend.

Selena Gomez wants you to know that she never said she doesn’t like Twilight.

The Disney darling has been getting a lot of flack from Twi-hards because they’re feeling like she dissed the world’s most talked-about vampire franchise when she told Bonnie Hunt last week that she hasn’t actually seen Twilight.

“All I said was that I didn’t watch it and I felt bad for not watching it…but of course, now it’s like, ‘I don’t like it.’ That’s not the case…I’m sorry if I offended anyone for that.”

It’s all good Selena — you’re allowed to not watch it (we don’t know why you wouldn’t though, but oh well).  It would only be weird if you insulted it without watching it like Miley did.

That’s Greg Kinnear as her dad and her real-life boyfriend Liam Hemsworth as her love interest.  The kid who plays her little brother (Bobby Coleman) is hilarious!

I just saw him in The Stepfather and I’m pretty obsessed with him. I actually didn’t know who he was and I went to see the movie as a joke, because the previews looked scary but I wasn’t sure if it was scary. It was actually a good movie.

Badgley’s having a popular week — the episode of Gossip Girl that just aired featured him, guest star Hilary Duff, and another girl…all “together.”
