Massive Disney Science Push Features Host of Disney Names

Wow.

Okay, apparently Disney REALLY wants you kids to start paying attention to your science classes.

They’ve launched what they call Disney Planet Challenge, a competition that challenges K-12 students to identify an environment-related issue of local concern and then come up with a solution TO that issue, which they then implement, manage and chronicle from start to finish.  Once they’ve finished the documentation process, the results are then put into a portfolio which is judged on standards ” environmental-relevance, student learning, changes in practices and attitudes, community involvement, lasting benefits to students, school and/or community and originality.”

And there are prizes at every level, including state, regional and national championships with an array of Disney-based prizes.  Plus, Disney in turn has tacked on its sheer star power to promote Disney’s Friends For Change: Project Green, a program of environmental awareness supported by its many familiar names, like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.

Kevin Jonas Picks Best Man…Men

There are few greater words a celebrity columnist can say than “I was right”.

Today I get to say exactly that.

Just about an hour ago, The Sun (admittedly not the greatest of sources) announced that Kevin Jonas had chosen his best man for his upcoming marriage to Danielle DeLeasa.

And it’s Nick.

And Joe.

That’s right–Kevin Jonas will have TWO best men when it comes time for his aisle walk with Danielle, and, according to some sources, little brother Frank Jonas (the so-called “Bonus Jonas” who in ten years or so will either be invited to join or will wind up being an alcoholic wreck of a man eternally torqued that he missed out on THAT by virtue of being born too late) will likely be called in to serve as a page boy during the proceedings.

I figured this was going to happen; the last thing anyone in that circle probably wanted was the chance to start calling Danielle “Yoko”, so they’re showing their brotherly and bandly unity all throughout the whole thing.

So nicely done, Jonases, and many happy returns.

You Know Who Kristen Stewart REALLY Feels Bad For?

This guy.  Right here.  Rob Pattinson.

And no, not because she broke up with him or she’s marrying him or moving in with him or having him surgically attached to her hip or whatever current rumor’s flying around, but because the poor schmoe literally cannot have a life of his own.

See, apparently, Kristen can read the tabloids just as easily as anyone else, and has seen first hand that it’s pretty much impossible for Rob to go out in public because wherever he goes he’s swarmed by legions of Twifans longing to get closer to him.  Meanwhile, she doesn’t seem to have this problem near as often and chalks it up to either her incredible powers of intimidation, the fact that her role is a lot more creepy-goth-girl and therefore more repellent, or the fact that no one really recognizes her face.

Still though, it’s good of her to be feeling bad for the poor guy; I know I’d want to be able to be seen in public without hordes descending on me.

Kristen Stewart Really Didn’t Like School

Kristen Stewart talked to the London Times this week and they just came out with a lengthy and interesting interview.  Here’s how it starts:

“I think she has a much bigger rack than I have.” Kristen Stewart is pondering her Twilight action figure — the little plastic doll that represents Bella, her character in the film franchise — while checking the proportions of the bust. “I also think she looks much older than me,” she adds, before setting the figure aside. I pick it up and, on closer inspection, the doll does look a little older than its real-life progenitor (as to the “rack”, closer inspection would be inappropriate). “It’s strange,” continues the 19-year-old actress, “but people often think I’m a little bit older than I really am. A French journalist asked me earlier on how my teenage years had affected my later life. I’m still in my teens.” She smiles.

The most interesting part comes when she talks about what full-time school was like before she dropped out:

I was glad to leave school,” she recalls. “I couldn’t relate to kids my own age. They are mean and don’t give you any chance.” Does she feel as though she missed out on anything? “No, I think the social aspects I haven’t missed out on. I am around people constantly. I meet hundreds of people at work. Once you have done with school, you realise it is just a smaller version of life. When I was there, I was never the type of girl to be walking around talking about acting, so I didn’t get a whole lot of hassle for that, until someone found out, until someone saw some old movie and realised. I was trying to play it down, but I definitely got, ‘Oh, she’s such a bitch.’ They’d never spoken to me, but instantly they were, like, ‘You are so rude.’ I am not rude.”

That would be a pretty weird situation — imagine if someday you realized one of your new friends was the girl who played the daughter in Panic Room.
