Chris Weitz’s Original New Moon Scouting Photos

The Twilight Twitter account just linked to a bunch of New Moon director Chris Weitz’s personal photos from when he went scouting in Italy for the location to shoot the Volterra scenes.

The gallery also includes Weitz’s own notes on the locations, so check it all out here.  But here’s a sample shot:

Looks a lot different when Bella’s not dashing through a crowd of people in red robes…

Teen Nick’s First Halo Awards a Success

The Taylor Lautner-hosted SNL episode isn’t the only cool thing on TV this weekend.  Last night Teen Nick aired its first annual “Halo Awards”, hosted by Nick Cannon, and reactions were positive across the board.

It was a great idea: instead of all those other awards shows where the stars get the trophies, this one features stars giving awards to ordinary teens who’ve given back to their community or the world — for example, an HIV positive kid who started an educational organization called “Hope is Vital” to raise awareness of the disease.

You can watch the whole thing at Teen Nick‘s website; it even features an introduction from Michelle Obama.

The Runaways Poster Mock-Up

There seems to be some dispute about whether or not this is an “official” teaser poster for Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning’s The Runaways.  But it’s definitely pretty cool, so check it out:

David Slade Says Eclipse Wolves Will Be More Realistic

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade is still holed up in the editing room, but he tweeted some pretty interesting info on Friday about how Eclipse might differ from New Moon:

Wolf reviews today, looking better & better. The Eclipse story and they way we approached the film calls for a much more realistic approach.

That says a lot in just two sentences — namely that he didn’t consider the computer-generated wolves particularly realistic in New Moon, and (presumably because of all the battle sequences in Eclipse) they’re aiming to make them look more like real wolves this time.

Do you think that’s the right approach?  Or would you rather all the wolves looked identical throughout all the films for the sake of continuity?

Taylor Lautner the Top Breakout Star of 2009

Moviefone just published a “Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2009″ list, and Taylor Lautner took the #1 spot:

Royally buffing up as the shapeshifting werewolf Jacob Black in the sequel ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon,’ Taylor Lautner redefines teenage hunk in his breakout role. Graduating from Bella’s long-haired admirer in the first film, Lautner is able to flex his muscles, quite literally, with a much larger, brooding part in the second vampire flick.

New Moon‘s Anna Kendrick also got a spot at #7 (though mostly because of Up in the Air).  The list also includes notably actresses like Zoe Saldana (Avatar) and Gabby Sidibe (Precious).

Kellan Lutz’s Dream Roles

Kellan Lutz talked to the Dish Rag at a recent Young Hollywood party and revealed two different movie franchises he’d love to be a part of after The Twilight Saga.

“I’m making this checklist as an actor,” he confided. “Right now I just really want to be part of the Bourne franchise and the more I say that, maybe Matt Damon will read it and it and maybe I can play his brother.”

Well that’s a no-brainer.  I’m surprised I never saw it before, but you could tell me Kellen Lutz is Damon’s long-lost little brother and I’d believe you.  Kellan looks tough enough to appear in a Bourne movie, too.

And the other one?

On the heels of his co-star Taylor Lautner’s move into the teen superhero flick, “Max Steel,” Kellan wouldn’t mind some super powers himself very soon. “I’d love to be ‘Captain America’ someday.”

Charges Dropped in New Moon Piracy Arrest

Yesterday we reported on a story about New Moon director Chris Weitz publicly coming to the defense of a young woman who inadvertently taped a couple minutes of his movie in a theater — and was arrested on felony charges.

Weitz is apparently a pretty powerful guy, because the charges were dropped today.  From the Hollywood Reporter:

Cook County prosecutors on Friday announced in court that they won’t pursue charges against Samantha Tumpach.

Tumpach was arrested Nov. 28 in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont and faced a felony charge of illegally copying the film.

She had about three minutes of “New Moon” on her digital camera. Tumpach has said she was taping her sister’s birthday party and wasn’t trying to record the movie.

Glad this story has a happy ending!

New Pic of Kristen and Dakota in The Runaways

We’re all familiar with the haircut that Kristen Stewart sported for her upcoming film The Runaways, but we haven’t seen many photos of her actually in the movie — and I don’t think we’ve seen any of Dakota Fanning.  So here’s a good one of both:

Kristen plays Joan Jett and Dakota plays Cherie Currie in the movie, about the famous teen girl band The Runaways from the ’70s.  It premieres next month at the Sundance Film Festival.

Lady Gaga On Barbara Walters Interview Admits She Is Bisexual?

Check out the video

The shockers never stop coming!  Leave it to Barbara Walters to get some more shocking news from Lady Gaga. L-G is known for her incredibly unique and sometimes limit-pushing performances, costumes, and song lyrics. And now she’s sort of revealing that she’s also bisexual.

While interviewing Lady Gaga, Walters asked about some of her song lyrics which imply an interest in ladies. Walters asked point blank if Gaga had been romantically involved with a woman. And Gaga, whose real name is Stephanie Germanotta, seemed for the first time ever to be a bit flustered and shocked.  She then went on to say that, while she’d never been in love with a woman, she’d been interested before.

Are you shocked by the news?  Or has Gaga just plain shocked you out?  Hit the comments section and tell us what you think!
