Dakota Fanning a ‘Rising Style Star’

Dakota FanningHarper’s Bazaar included The Runaways and The Twilight Saga’s Dakota Fanning in their latest list of 2010 “Rising Style Stars,” applauding her career and red carpet choices.  They say:

If the name Dakota Fanning conjures up images of a wide-eyed child star with blond braids and Mary Janes, it’s time to think again. After years of children’s fare, 16-year old Fanning recently starred as punk rocker Cherie Currie in The Runaways, a biopic of rock star-proportions with cover girl Kristen Stewart playing Joan Jett. Fanning has channeled her new mature role on the red carpet with lots of black, like this stunning Valentino lace mini (paired with soaring burgundy heels) and the chic black blazer-and-skinny pants combo she wore at Sundance. Savvy style is matched by smart career moves: Fanning’s next film is none other than the next film in the Twilight series, Eclipse.

Jemi’s Easter Date

Mon, Apr 5, 2010

Jemi is heating things up.  It’s just been a few weeks since Demi Lovato opened up about her relationship with Joe Jonas and now that they’re out and about with it, they are happily flaunting their love all over town. First they were spied canoodling at, of all places, the grocery store. The pictures were super cute and it’s obvious they’re really having a great time.

But the shots we’re loving most are from Easter. Joe and Demi spent the special holiday together, having brunch at the Four Season’s hotel.  Are they the cutest couple of 2010?

Alex Meraz Talks Eclipse and David Slade

Mon, Apr 5, 2010

Alex MerazIn a recent red carpet interview, Alex Meraz — a.k.a. the wolf pack’s Paul — talked a lot about filming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and what it was like to work with David Slade:

David Slade is very technical … He always has a camera himself and takes pictures of everyone.  Really awkward closeups … He was fun, he was a cool guy.  He had a different view of what he wanted to do, which was fun for us as actors, but he definitely stayed true to what Eclipse is.

When the interviewer asked if it was tough adjusting to a new director, Alex said:

I feel more for him, not for us.  For him, he’s like a father who has to adopt children.  Because there was a certain amount of the cast that he hand-picked to play, and then there was us.  So he really trusted that we knew our characters and we knew what we were doing.  So he kind of let us do our thing.  But he’s the director, so if he didn’t like what we were doing, he was like, nope, let’s try it like this.

Finally, he was asked how Slade compared to New Moon director Chris Weitz:

I think in a way, he felt more like a filmmaker, where Chris was more of a director.  David Slade was so worried about like every component, like the special effects, the camera, the lighting — he has lots of hats, you know, he’s not just kicking back or just looking at what the actors are doing…he was so smart and so well-versed.

last-song-poster-miley-cyrus-liam-hemsworthMiley Cyrus’s new movie The Last Song did well in theaters this weekend, and has made over $25 million since it opened on Wednesday.

On opening day, it was the biggest movie in the country with $5 million.  The strategy was to get it in theaters before other weekend movies like Clash of the Titans opened, and it looks like it worked.

Meanwhile, last week’s #1 movie, How to Train Your Dragon, made another $29 million and has already almost made $100 million.
