This probably comes as much too cold comfort entirely too late to do much of anything about it, but Miley has gone on record as saying that, despite what all the mean nasty professional liars out there have to say (NO ONE’s gonna call her on that?  Why is it always up to ME to be the voice of my industry?), she’s very much unattached and single.  Dig the word:

“There are a lot of people I’m supposedly dating these days.  But I’m just kicking it right now, I don’t really have time for a huge relationship.  There’s no dude.”

Meanwhile, Miley’s Twitter feed has boiled off into a confused sludge of posts about her father and her religion.  I’m really not sure what’s going on out there–in one breath she’s striking off in her own direction and in another she’s falling back into some kind of strange, Disney-approved twaddle that looks tailor-made at keeping her child-star image in tact.

And meanwhile, there’s poor Laura Griffin, who wonders desperately how she can keep her man Liam Hemsworth in the face of the last temptation of Miley.

The strange, ever-shifting haze that is Miley Cyrus’ life continues to scintillate, leaving us all more confused for the effort.

That was an interesting question I read over at E! Online, and I figured I’d take a run at it myself and offer it up to you, via our comments section.  Who’s got the more promising career, Zac Efron or Rob Pattinson?

First, because I’ve got both the whip hand AND the bully pulpit, my analysis.

Let’s be frank.  Twilight was a box-office draw that beat High School Musical by several orders of magnitude.  The only theatrical released version of HSM made a respectable ninety million worldwide (not bad for a made-for-TV franchise, huh?), but Twilight blew it squarely out of the water with over a hundred and ninety one million.

However, when you look at individual careers, discrepancies emerge.  One, Zac is a full year younger than Rob, giving him a small edge in the looks-conscious world of Hollywood.  VERY small, granted, but an edge is an edge.  Zac also has more and more varied roles than Rob, giving him a much wider body of experience to draw on.  Zac has twenty four credits with two preproduction / filming roles, while Rob has only fourteen with four preproduction / filming.

Objectively, Zac has almost TWICE the experience, and over a much wider range.  Rob has essentially two roles, his Cedric Diggory and his Edward Cullen.  After that, it’s basically some art flicks (like his Salvador Dali in Little Ashes) and some fairly obscure bits.

I have to give the nod to Zac Efron, who’s got the wider body of experience and the slight edge in the looks department due to his extra year.  Sure, there’s no denying that Rob’s a moneymaker, but there’s a fair likelihood he’ll wind up typecast as “the vampire boy”.  Whereas Zac may be known for his clean-cut Tony Bolton, but he’s got room to expand.  And versatility is always a plus. What do you guys think?

It’s only been 24 hours since Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech at the VMAs, and he’s already racking up the apologies.  But Kanye doesn’t do apologies like other celebrities do apologies.

For example, instead of a well-written statement released via a publicist, he posted a nearly nonsensical rant on his blog the very same night.  And tonight, he appeared on The Jay Leno Show and basically behaved like an ashamed little boy.

No, seriously.  Kanye walked onstage and admitted that he had been rude.  Leno asked him what he thought his mother would’ve said about the stunt, and Kanye sat there trying to think of something to say…and then just didn’t say anything.  Dead silence on TV for ten full seconds.

Maybe he was thinking about the fact that he’s a 32-year-old man and he just behaved like a bully to a sweet 19-year-old girl.

We have yet to hear from Taylor Swift about all this, but it’s probably smart for her to just keep quiet for now…and enjoy the Best Music Video award she rightfully won, no matter what Kanye thinks.

The day after The Vampire Diaries premiered on the CW, news broke that months earlier, the female members of the cast were posing for a photo shoot on a traffic overpass in Georgia and got so distracting that they were all arrested for disorderly conduct.

So what were they doing that was so disorderly?  According to E!, the girls were “striking a series of motorist-distracting poses, including straddling the railing and simulating being thrown over.”  But now a picture has emerged from the photo shoot, and it’s relatively unexciting:

Motorist-distracting?  Yeah, I can see that.  But was it really worth arresting them over?

Miley Cyrus is getting real run for her money on this week’s Billboard countdown.   Today we’re talking about singer, songwriter, and guitarist Colbie Caillat.   Colbie made her big debut back in 2007.  Songs like “Realize” and “The Little Things” put her on the music map.  But her duet “Lucky” with Jason Mraz made her a household name.   So it’s not too surprising that fans were eagerly anticipating her second release AND they wondered if she could beat the curse of the sophomore slump on this album.
