Gregg Sulkin Lands Lead Role in MTV’s “Faking It”

Gregg-Sulkin-7

Big congrats are in order for Gregg Sulkin! We’re still bummed about “Delirium,” but it looks like one of our favorite Brits might be back on the small screen soon.

It was just announced that Gregg will star in MTV’s new comedy pilot “Faking It.” The half-hour comedy revolves around two best friends who will do almost anything to fit in and be popular in high school, including pretending to be something they’re not.

So who will he play and who else is part of the cast? Check out the character breakdowns below.

Gregg will play Liam, a sexy high school artist who is tolerate, cares about the environment and is good with his hands. Nearly every girl would kill to date him but none have understood him — until Karma arrives and sees through his art and into his soul.

American Idol’s Katie Stevens will play Karma, an upbeat and optimistic high school sophomore who is sick of spending her Friday nights watching Netflix with her best friend Amy. Convinced they’re in danger of falling off the social ladder, Karma is thrilled when she and Amy are invited to the hottest party of the year — especially because Liam will be there.
Rita Volk (Major Crimes, Rizzoli & Isles) will play Amy, who unlike her longtime best friend, is cynical and a pessimist. She has a strained relationship with her mother and soon-to-be stepsister Lauren, who recently moved into their home.

Laura Marano Named 2013 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Ambassador

laura marano

Laura Marano, actress and star of the Disney Channel series Austin and Ally, has been named the 2013 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Ambassador. In this role, Marano will advocate, educate and fundraise for the original Kids Helping Kids® campaign, which has already raised more than $170 million since 1950 to aid children around the world.

“I’m so excited to celebrate Halloween this year by encouraging kids to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work. The Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign is a fun, easy way for kids to learn about world issues and to help other kids who are less fortunate,” said Marano.

Marano has helped kick off this year’s campaign and the inaugural nationwide “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF School Challenge” through two Public Service Announcements released today. The school challenge is part of an effort to support elementary school educators in teaching children about the needs of their peers in other countries and about the importance of giving.
From now until Oct. 31, teachers are asked to creatively document through video, photography or another visual format, how students are helping kids across the globe by participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF activities. Five Grand-Prize winners will have the opportunity to travel to Tanzania and see UNICEF programs in action. They also will receive $1,000 cash grants for their classroom.

Entries can be submitted on www.trickortreatforunicef.org/challenge beginning Oct. 1, 2013 through Jan. 31, 2014. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges who will announce the winners in spring 2014.

“We’re thrilled to have someone as bright and energetic as Laura to represent the campaign,” said Caryl Stern, president and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has helped provide medicine, nutrition, clean water, education and more to children around the world, and we know Laura’s dedication will inspire other kids to participate in this great American tradition.”

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF has also developed a series of lesson plans to aid teachers in promoting global citizenship among students. This year’s themes are hunger and malnutrition, the cause of more than a third of all child deaths in developing countries. One Direction ‘This Is Us’: Top 5 Moments From the Movie Trailer

1D_London_Photocall_003_1024x768

One Direction will be making their big screen debut on August 30 when One Direction: This Is Us hits theaters in 3D.

We have had the trailer on repeat to get us pumped for the release and we are about to break down some of our favorite moments.

First up, we are going to get to see 1D as little lads. C’mon, how adorable are these baby photos?!

Second, we all know that One Direction is not the pop-and-lock dancing type of boyband but they do like to have some fun dancing every now and then. We totally think they could pull off some full out choreographed numbers. How about you?

Third, we love how sweet the lads are to their moms. The moment when Zayn buys his mom a house and calls her on the phone had us reaching for tissues to dry our eyes.

Next, we love getting to see Harry visit the bakery he used to work at. How hilarious are his former co-workers?

And finally, we love how the trailer ends with this funny fishing moment. It shows off the group’s funny side and we have a feeling we will be seeing plenty of these goofy moments throughout the film.

You don’t think we could leave you with just five moments do you? Here’s a bonus moment that is sure to make you giggle.

We love this trailer and did you know that you can create your own remix? Head over to the official movie website to create your own trailer and share it with all your friends. One Direction: This Is Us in theaters August 30.

Exclusive: What To Expect at BeautyCon 2013 This Weekend

Invite!

BeautyCon 2013 is set for this weekend and it sounds like it’s going to be bigger and better than previous years.

BeautyCon LA will take place August 24 and will be the place for you to come meet all your favorite fashion and beauty vloggers, get tips and ask questions. We chatted with the founder of BeautyCon, Marina Curry, all about the event and she even shared some of her top back-to-school tips for this year.

-For someone who has never been to BeautyCon, how would you describe it? BeautyCon is the one day a year where you can meet all of your favorite online beauty and fashion personalities. All year we admire their looks and watch their videos and its great to have this special occasion where the whole community comes together in a really fun setting thats catered to fashion and beauty lovers!

-BeautyCon celebrates the fusion of beauty and the internet. How would you describe how the internet & YouTube have revolutionized the beauty business? The internet gives anyone and everyone the power to share their thoughts and opinions. People can pick up a camera or smartphone and spread the word about what they love and what not to buy based on their real life experience, it takes the power of marketing into the hands of everyone and I think its rad!

-It’s back-to-school time, what will be the beauty trends for girls this year? There are so many things right now that are popular and my favorites for example all of the clear boots which are perfect going into fall are great. I also like all of the fun leather backpacks, some even have these great studs, talk about going back to school in style. And how fun are all of these great overalls that come in all these different styles and colors are great. A makeup trend that is here to stay is the cat eye and I love that, if anyone has trouble with this there are so many beauty gurus on YouTube that walk through different kinds of cat eyes as I truly believe everyone has a cat eye that works for them. Orange eye shadow was all over the runway for Fall and it happens to be the color for the season along with Emerald and they go so well together. Another beauty trend that is going to be big this fall is ‘bold red lip’ another trend that just always seems to come around and I am happy about it. I think we will be seeing a lot of up-do’s this fall, with braids, knots, and hair accessories to dress up any style and any updo.

-What are the trendy colors, styles and looks for Fall? Trendy colors will continue with the emerald green we have been seeing earlier this year, some orange will be coming into the mix along with blue’s purple and reds. Perfect colors to match with the makeup trends. Styles that will be popular this fall will be the peplum and leather tops and velvet dresses so head to the store and pick up some velvet something to pair with your outfits this fall.
