Exclusive: Jessi Cruickshank Talks About the CW’s New Wild Game of Musical Chairs – “Oh Sit!”

Episode 101

Have you ever played musical chairs? If so, then you know the game can sometimes get pretty intense. We know we’ve walked away with a few bruises before. If you thought your little game of musical chairs was tough, you’ve never seen anything like “Oh Sit!”

“Oh Sit!” is the CW’s newest game show that premieres tonight, August 15, at 8pm. The show is hosted by Jamie Kennedy and Jessi Cruickshank and is a fun, high-stakes, high-octane musical chairs competition, in which 12 thrill-seeking daredevils race head to head through five physically demanding, obstacle course-style eliminations as they each compete to claim a chair, to the sounds of a live band. At the end of the hour, only one contestant will be left sitting triumphant to seize the cash prize.

We had the chance to chat with host Jessi Cruickshank all about the fun and madness that is “Oh Sit!”

For anyone that doesn’t know the premise of the show, how would you describe it? It’s basically Musical Chairs on steroids. We have 12 girls and guys battling it out together on a massive obstacle course surrounding a 7ft-deep moat and a spinning island with rotating chairs. Not to mention a smoking hot band playing live music during each race. It’s hilarious and entertaining and arousing and terrifying.

Have you actually ever tried out the course? Oh hell no. I prefer to sit far, far away with my co-host Jamie Kennedy, sipping warm beverages and looking down upon the people who have chosen to wear spandex and helmets on a nationally televised game of musical chairs.

The contestants get to run the course to live music. Kevin Rudolf is on the first episode. Any hints on what other musical guests fans can expect? We’ve got amazing musical guests every week. Far East Movement was definitely one of my favorites- they got SO into it! As soon as they would stop playing, they’d run to the front of the stage to watch the racers push and fight and swim their way to the chairs. Frankly I don’t know how the contestants weren’t distracted by their chains, neon and keytars. I know I was.

How would you rank your own musical chairs skills? Oh, I can get ruthless. I’m a killer walker. And sitter. But sometimes it comes down to sheer butt size and sadly, I’m a scrawny ginger without the booty of a champion.

What is your favorite thing about hosting the show? On MTV, I did a lot of crazy stuff- I mud wrestled, I jumped out of a plane, I spent a weekend with Heidi & Spencer on a remote island, but this is by far the most ridiculous, insane and downright hilarious show I have ever been a part of. Working with Jamie and Tanika has been great, but watching 6 hunky dudes run around a track in tight, wet unitards everyday? Even better.

If there was a celebrity edition of Oh Sit, who would you want to see on it? That’s tough- our contestants range from sweet and adorable to angry and vicious so I’d want a good assortment. I’d start with Lindsay Lohan. For sheer entertainment value. And let’s be honest… at this point in her career, there’s a pretty good chance she’d do it. Next I’d add Channing Tatum, just to see him in Lycra. Throw in Charlie Sheen, a Kardashian, some Real Housewives and Chris Brown we’ve got ourselves an epic battle of musical chairs. But seriously, can we make this happen?

You’ve seen a lot of people play this game. What kind of contestants actually do the best? That’s the crazy thing! You can NEVER predict it because a lot of it just comes down to pure luck. We’ve had ripped marines get eliminated in the first round and tiny 16 year old girls make it all the way to the finals. No matter what happens we always get highly emotionally attached to our racers. Jamie cried. A lot.

Is there any other classic kids game you’d love to see get this new modern twist? Spin the Bottle. Think about it.

Why should people tune in? Because the Olympics are over. And this is just like the Olympics. With chairs.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8pm on the CW!
