Summer is here and we are definitely looking forward to “Teen Beach Movie.” Not only does it have great music and a great story, but it also has great fashion!
The Disney Channel Original Movie premieres on July 19 and stars Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell as surfers who get transported into a 60′s beach movie musical – Wet Side Story. We meet confident, resilient surfer McKenzie (Mitchell) and her carefree boyfriend Brady (Lynch), a fan of the retro surf musical movie, “Wet Side Story.” On the morning of McKenzie’s planned departure for boarding school, she and Brady catch one last epic wave which mysteriously carries them right into “Wet Side Story,” circa 1962, where they meet Seacat, Giggles, Rascal and Cheechee, among others.
Amidst the spontaneous song and dance, there’s trouble in paradise — it’s bikers versus surfers for control of the local hangout but Mack and Brady unwittingly interfere with the movie’s star-crossed plot, one that would pair a surfer (the teen matinee idol Tanner) and a biker (Lela, the sister of Butchy, the biker gang’s leader). Typical of the teen beach movie genre, a kooky subplot has mad scientists Les Camembert and Dr. Fusion scheming to alter weather patterns and take over the local hangout and then, the world.
The movie will have some fabulous 60s inspired fashion for both the beach look and the cool biker look! Celebrity stylists Louise Roe and Daniel Musto picked out some awesome inspired looks from the film and did a fashion shoot with Maia Mitchell and Garrett Clayton and we have your tips on how to get the look.
We love the bright colors and the cool stripes that Maia & Garrett are showing off with these summer looks. Stylist Daniel Musto shared some tips with us on how you can make these looks your own.
“Beach hunks deserve summer appeal, too! The hottest trends for our favorite dudes must always be SIMPLE to achieve! A fun way to mix up the normal is to pair a light-weight, long-sleeve tee with denim shorts. Roll up the sleeves AND the shorts and you will be stopping traffic outside the soda pop shop. If you like a classic look, throw on high-top converse… if you like a bit of a risk, do the same thing, but roll them down to show off your ankles and cool down.”
One of the most important accessories to any outfit is the shoes. Daniel shared, “Kicking off summer is all about kicking off those heavy shoes and throwing on something lighter. Slipping into a pair of mod sneakers is always comfortable… but, wearing a pair with sections removed is both on-trend AND super cool for the hottest season of the year! You can also show off the look of a Teen Beach Movie dress while keeping cool around the middle. Pair a top and skirt together in identical mod fabrics, but make sure the top hits below your belt line. You achieve a streamline look, while your belly button gets some ventilation! SCORE!”
We hope you love these “Teen Beach Movie” inspired looks and don’t forget to check out all the fashions of the movie when it premieres July 19 at 8pm on Disney Channel.
