Another person on Eclipse production gets the boot.
Apparently, the editor put on the Eclipse film just got fired. This is the person who’s worked with tri-quel director David Slade in post-production on other movies like 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy, but according to reports, Summit just wanted a stronger edit for Slade’s material. It’s being said that the new editor on the project, Nancy Richardson, better understands the emotion of the characters and really can balance the action into the movie. Keep in mind that Richardson worked with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke on the first film in the Saga.

In an amusing new interview with People, The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz jokes that New Moon could’ve been a major Oscar contender if only teen girls were allowed to vote:
“If only the Academy were composed of teenage girls, I might be looking at a Best Picture nom,” he joked. “It’s a scandal that there are not more teenage girls in the Academy.”
He also mentioned that — being a member of the Academy himself — he voted for Anna Kendrick in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Up in the Air:
“I voted for her of course, because she’s my homie,” says Weitz.
Actually, I think there’s a rule about Academy members not revealing who they voted for. I hope he doesn’t get in trouble.

In a new interview with Seventeen magazine, Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev compares her character, Elena, to The Twilight Saga’s Bella:
I think that Elena has more awareness of her friends and family, and everyone around her, and looking out for everyone’s best interests. But Bella reflects that unconditionally in love, the blinded love that girls really do experience sometimes. They fall in love with someone and they’ll do anything and everything for that one person.
I think I’m more like Elena but I have a little bit of Bella in me. When I’m in love with someone and they’re really important to me, I will definitely take care of them, but at the same time, I’m not going to throw everything away for a relationship, I still have my friends and I still have an awareness of everything around me.
Sounds like the girl has done her homework! Whether or not you agree it’s definitely something she’s thought a lot about before.

In a new report on Deadline about Chris Weitz’s next movie, the drama The Gardener, it’s mentioned that Weitz most likely will not sign up for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, despite the good job he did on New Moon:
Insiders said Weitz won’t return for the Twilight finale, and that Summit is already taking aim at another high-end director. [But] Weitz said he didn’t choose The Gardener over Twilight—the latter is still being written.
Sounds like Summit may have offered it to him, but decided to move on after he said he wanted to make The Gardener instead. I’m very intrigued by who this new “high-end director” is, though. Any suggestions?

What do Joan Jett and the Sex Pistols have in common with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning? Would you believe they’re all a part of the line-up on “The Runaways” soundtrack listing?
It’s no surprise that these young ladies can act, but their singing skills are a bit unexpected, although we have heard K-stew sing for her role in “Into the Wild.” But Dakota is actually singing on more tracks than K-stew, with a total of four tracks.
Think that the ladies of Twilight have the chops for punk? Tell us what you think in the comments section!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz just did an interview in anticipation of the movie’s upcoming DVD release, and revealed that there’s at least one thing he wishes he could do differently:
When you go back and watch it again, are there things you’d like to change if you could?
I would like to never have shot Rob and Kristen running through the forest and Kristen’s just turned into a vampire. Because everybody always laughs and it makes me feel terrible. [Laughs] I would have shot it a different way so it wouldn’t get that response. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.
Well, it’s true — in the theater I was in, at least, people did laugh at that scene. Do you agree that it should’ve been changed or did you like it the way it was?

Kellan Lutz talked to MTV recently and spilled a lot about his hopes and desires regarding The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. As he’s mentioned before, he’d happily do two movies, but he also revealed that he’d like Chris Weitz to direct them — and that he’d rather they not be in 3D:
“I heard they were talking about it. I don’t really care to see it in 3D … 3D kind of hurts my eyes anyways. ‘Avatar’ was amazing in 3D and in IMAX, but I don’t think I wanna see a little baby half-vampire in 3D,” he said, echoing a similar sentiment made by Stewart. “There’s just some scenes I just wouldn’t want to see in 3-D.”
And with no formal announcement that more movies will be shot from the Twilight Saga, Lutz is in favor of breaking the book up into two flicks with New Moon helmer Chris Weitz back in the director’s chair, if the film should get the green light. “I’d love to see Chris Weitz come back,” he said late last year. “I just had so much fun shooting with him. I mean, obviously I would just love to do [Breaking Dawn]. There’s no word. … Hopefully we get that phone call, and if they want to make it into five movies, I just don’t want it to end. I love my character so much.”

So this requires a little explanation if you’re not familiar with it. On Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy has this recurring segment called “Robert is Bothered,” in which he sits in a tree and does his best Edward Cullen impression. It’s usually pretty funny. So last night, when Robert Pattinson appeared on Late Night, Jimmy ran another edition of the segment…

Some unfortunate news from post-production of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: editor Art Jones, who’s worked with director David Slade on two past films, just got canned by Summit Entertainment. According to Entertainment Weekly:
[Summit] has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of Catherine Hardwicke’s original Twilight film. The studio is not placing blame on Jones, who previously worked with Eclipse director David Slade on his horror film 30 Days of Night as well as Slade’s Ellen Page-starrer Hard Candy. They do believe, however, that Slade’s material – which they call “very good” – needed a stronger edit. The studio has more confidence in Richardson, who they say understands the emotion of the characters and is an ace at balancing action with the other elements of the film.
It’s hard to tell how truthful Summit’s being here; naturally, they don’t want any bad press, so they’re smoothing over the firing by saying they’re “not placing blame.” But the studio has proven to be trigger-happy in firing people before (Catherine Hardwicke and Rachelle LaFevre being the two major examples), so this isn’t totally shocking. It’s also unlikely to hurt Eclipse; after all, New Moon managed well enough without Hardwicke.
