Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries, played by hottie Ian Somerhalder, beat Edward Cullen — and by extension Robert Pattinson — in Entertainment Weekly’s summer “Sexy Beast” tournament, which pitted the hottest non-humans in pop culture against each other.

The final tally: 138,630 votes to 134,728 votes — despite Ian tweeting last week “That Pattinson guy will end up kicking my butt, however thanks for taking the time, that’s really cool:)”.

Who do you think should have won?

Nikki Reed has clearly been studying up on Breaking Dawn in preparation for filming this fall. In an interview with MTV, she continues to analyze Rosalie’s love/hate relationship with Bella and Renesmee, saying:

What is that saying? Nothing makes two people bond more than the hate of another? I kind of feel like that, but in relation to love, with ‘Breaking Dawn,’ because they both love this child so much. And I think it’s finally, you know, the one thing that’s strong enough to bring them together — their love for this [baby]. It’s bizarre. It’s like they learn to co-exist for the sake of the kid, almost like they’re a divorced couple.

It seems that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is already pretty far into pre-production, as Chaske Spencer revealed on Twitter (spotted by BreakingDawnMovie) that he’s been training since last Tuesday:

Of course, he could just be hitting the gym on his own, but — well, it’s hard to complain about that.

According to Forbes magazine, Stephenie Meyer is the second-highest-paid author in the world this year.  She’s ahead of Stephen King and behind only James Patterson.

So what are the numbers?  From June to June, Stephenie reportedly made $40 million.

Still, she has a ways to go — although Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling didn’t make the list this year since she didn’t release anything, she’s estimated to be worth over a billion.

The downside to a billion-dollar series like The Twilight Saga is the constant misinformation that springs out of nowhere and can quickly take hold on any number of blogs and websites.  Summit Entertainment recently sent out an informal press release to a few Twilight blogs clearing up some of the wilder rumors:

1) There is only one casting director working on THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN films right now – Deborah Zane. As of right now no local auditions are being held. If Deborah’s name is not attached to it in some form or another, it is not legitimate. She is also not putting out nationwide casting notices. Once again – as was the case with NEW MOON and ECLIPSE – any ads you see are completely false. She has set up an e-mail address specifically for casting inquiries (BreakingDawnCast@gmail.com).

2) Lexicon touched base regarding a rumor about Renesmee’s name changing in BREAKING DAWN. It is FALSE.

3) Twi Examiner asked about Riley’s appearance in BREAKING DAWN because it was listed on Xavier’s IMDb page. Riley will not appear in the BREAKING DAWN films. It is a rumor.

4) Also not confirmed is anything you have heard about the US release date of the ECLIPSE DVD. We have not announced it yet, so unless it is international and confirmed by an international distributor, it is a rumor.

Vampires Suck opened yesterday and made $4 million — not bad for the middle of the week.

The Twilight parody stars mostly unknowns, and has gotten some pretty terrible reviews, but it might be good for a few laughs — in Entertainment Weekly’s review, they single out Jenn Proske, the girl who plays the Bella character, saying she “spoofs Twilight star Kristen Stewart’s flustered, hair-tugging angst with hilarious precision.”  Fun!

One of the (many) harrowing parts of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is not just Bella’s birthing scene, but Rosalie’s insistence that the baby be saved — possibly at the expense of Bella’s life.  In talking to MTV, Nikki Reed explained her interpretation of Rosalie’s actions, saying:

“I think that Rosalie just always wanted to be a mom, and that’s how I look at it,” she said. “It has nothing to do with being pro-life or anything. I think it’s about her want, her need to be a mother, and this is the only opportunity she’s ever going to have, so she’s willing to let Bella die so she can have that and fulfill that, and that’s how I look at it. It’s her own personal desires.”

Who’s the hottest sexy beast? The folks at EW have taken that question to their readers for the answer in an ongoing on-line poll and it’s now come down to the final two.  Will it be Twilight Saga’s Edward Cullen or The Vampire Diaries Damon Salvatore?

We’re getting word via the Examiner that Kellan Lutz is spilling all the details about what’s next for The Twilight Saga cast.  Fight training for Breaking Dawn is set to kick off in just a few weeks.

After James Franco revealed he was reading The Twilight Saga for mysterious reasons, rumors flew that he was joining the cast of Breaking Dawn.  Well, either it’s still top-top-secret…or it’s just not true, because one of his reps just denied the news to Gossip Cop:

For good or for bad: It’s not happening.

A rep for Franco tells Gossip Cop the speculation about him joining Breaking Dawn is “not true.”

Too bad…I think he’d make a decent vampire.
