Selena Gomez and Reggae?

Looking forward to another album from Selena and the Scene?

While the singer and her band basically just put out their debut album Kiss and Tell – technically, in 2009 though – they’re already getting things rolling on album number-2. Interestingly, Selena has said that the follow-up tracks will have a different sound, using words like “older”, “funkier”, “edgier” even saying the songs will have a bit of a reggae feel. Basically, Gomez said that she and the Scene were working on some stuff to make a deluxe edition of Kiss and Tell and then decided to make an entire new album altogether.

The Disney star said she’s wanting to get some collaborations in the mix, including the producers from Naturally and maybe even Dr. Luke who has put together hit songs like Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl and Ke$ha’s Tik Tok.

We’d all been wondering what she was going to try next, and “older, funkier and edgier” sounds like a direction to try.  But is it a direction you’ll follow?  Hit the comments section and tell us what you think about Selena’s direction!

Selena Gomez Preps Second Album

Selena Gomez is already laying the ground work for her next album. Selena’s first album with her band the Scene hasn’t even been out for a year yet, but she’s already dishing on what she plans to include on her sophomore release.

In a recent interview with MTV, Sel said that she was initially planning to do a deluxe edition of her current album and add a few more tracks, but they when she got down to work, the songs just kept on coming, so the singer decided why not just go for a second one!

The 17 year old says it’s kind of different from her first album – it’s older and kind of has a reggae sound, which is a change from the poppy rock sound of Kiss and Tell.

Sounds like Selena’s branching out.  Do you like the new sound?  Tell us what you think down in the comments section!

Let’s just say that these guys – and gals – already rock quite the fan following since their early days – they just got together barely 2 years ago – but Los Campesinos is about to blow up big time.

The indie band’s latest, Romance is Boring, features a different sound than their previous releases.  This official sophomore disc is a more complete performance overall, a total musical package, with deeper lyrics, dynamic choruses and advanced beats mashed up with instruments galore.  Some tracks to definitely look out for include ‘Plan A’, a hard yet interestingly soft song as well as ‘There Are Listed Buildings’ for its impressive show – plus that’s a good one for early LC fans.

School Gyrls Preview: New Movie and Album

15. December 2009

So the latest group of popular, pretty ladies in town is called School Gyrls, and the trio already has a movie deal.

That’s right, Nickelodeon has hooked in the School Gyrls for an upcoming flick of the same name, and it’s pretty much a big-time promotion for their debut album, set to be released right after.

According to the teens, Nick Cannon – who is the director of the Nickelodeon movie, discovered them all and formed the all-star group because each girl is talented in a different area – be it acting, dancing or singing – AND did I mention each girl has a different style?

The Nickelodeon flick will take place at school – I’m pretty sure the girls are freshman at a private high school… with Mandy Rain as the Class Clown, Jacque Nimble as the Bad Girl and Mo Money as the Fashionista. They’re going through the normal trials and tribulations of being a teen. You’ll definitely get a sampling of all of their talents in the movie.

Plus, viewers even get to see a cameo performance by Justin Bieber.

It’s slated out this fall, but are you ready to see it? Hit the comments section and tell us what you think!

Nick Jonas’ New Song “Rose Garden”

14. December 2009

So it’s pretty clear that Nick wants the world to know that the Jonas Brothers are not breaking up.

All the same, Nick Jonas and the Administration – the 3rd brother’s side project – released the first official track called “Who I Am” not too long ago and it definitely followed similar suit with JoBro styled songs.

But the new song that we’re talking about today is called “Rose Garden” and let’s just say that it’s definitely got some thorns. This track represents an apparent darker, more serious side with its acoustic yet jazzy beats. The lyrics describe a girl from a broken home who works at a flower shop to make money to survive.

The twist in this whole story is that it’s being rumored that Nick wrote the song about his former flame, Selena Gomez.  The timeline matches up, so it’s a possibility, but Selena Gomez as the inspiration for that?

So do you think Nick wrote “Rose Garden” about Selena? What’s the proof for your case? And if you think he did use Gomez as inspiration, do you think it’s appropriate? Hit the comments section and tell us what you think about this song!
