Bella Thorne Teams Up with the Thirst Project for World Water Day

March 22, 2013

Did you know that today is World Water Day?! Did you also know that almost 1 billion people on the planet do not have access to safe, clean water, and 4,400 kids under the age of five will die today from drinking dirty water? Crazy right?

Bella Thorne has teamed up with The Thirst Project for their March campaign to get students involved for World Water Day. The Thirst Project and Bella Thorne will mobilize the organization’s 300,000 teens and young people in their school clubs to raise awareness in their schools and communities of the global water crisis and the fact that there are STILL nearly ONE BILLION people on the planet who do not have access to safe, clean drinking water. To call out how crazy this reality is, The Thirst Project is calling this Campaign during the month of March its “Dirty Little Secret” Campaign (because we believe that the fact that a BILLION people on our planet are still drinking dirty water and suffering from easily-preventable water-related diseases, and the fact that nobody’s talking about it makes this the biggest “dirty little secret” in the world).

“I met Seth at the Do Something Awards last year when he was being honored for his work in fighting the global water crisis,” Bella tells us exclusively. I think this is a great organization for the work they do in building fresh water wells and the “Dirty Little Secret Campaign” for World Water Day is awesome because it’s not asking anyone to give any money, it’s just getting kids talking and raising awareness! It’s getting kids to spread the message that almost 1 billion people in the world don’t have access to fresh, clean drinking water and most people don’t even know about it. That’s what makes it the biggest “Dirty Little Secret!”
