Alice in Wonderland

Remember Me, the new movie starring Robert Pattinson, debuted in fourth place (under Green Zone and She’s Out of My League) with $8.3 million.  Unfortunately, that’s lower than what the studio was hoping for and what people were expecting.

Anybody catch it this weekend?  Did it deserve to do better — you know, aside from the obviously plus side of Rob being in it?

The host asked Lovato if she’d ever dated any of the Jonas Brothers, “Umm, maybe,” she said coyly.

“Which one? Joe?” asked Bush, to which Lovato said, “Yeah. He’s actually… he’s my best friend.”

Pressing for clarification, Bush said, “So you guys went from boyfriend-girlfriend to best friends?”

“No kind of the opposite,” the 17-year-old Sonny with a Chance star explained.

“Oh? So you’re dating him now?” asked Bush.

“Umm, yeah he is my best friend and he is incredible,” Lovato finally confessed.

Took her a little while to finally admit it, but she sounds really happy!  Congrats to both of them.

Kristen liked it, saying she wished it was longer:

It’s really fast.  It’s so quick I was just like, “Hm, okay.”  It was like watching stills.  It’s weird for me to watch stuff. Initially my reaction’s very strange anyway.  I want to see more!

Dakota, meanwhile, sounded happy that Jane made an appearance at all:

I’m excited that I’m in it!  I didn’t expect that.  It’s really great. … I can’t give [details] away, but [in the movie] I’m in two scenes this time I think.

There are apparently some big fans of Kristen’s at Apparition: the company is also distributing her upcoming movie The Runaways.

Deadline reports that they bought distribution rights for over a million bucks, and will likely release it this fall.

The Twilight Saga

He’ll play a young man with cerebral palsy who takes care of his dying father while working at a truckstop, where he meets and befriends a prostitute.

Playing the female lead is Jennifer Lawrence, a terrific 19-year-old actress who recently starred in Winter’s Bone, which was one of the winners at the Sundance Film Festival.

Sounds like the kind of movie that might really flex Jackson’s acting muscles.  He’s on a roll right now with Eclipse and The Last Airbender both coming out this summer.

I didn’t like the way New Moon was treated by the critics. I think it was reviewed in the context of just being a big franchise movie. When something is so hyped, inevitably, there is a backlash against it. I think Chris Weitz is an amazing director. I really enjoyed the film. So the naysayers kind of annoyed me.

He also shares an anecdote about working with Pierce Brosnan on Remember Me that he says helped him understand fame a little more:

We went out to dinner in a restaurant full of all these guys who looked like bankers or brokers. They didn’t recognize me, but they recognized Pierce. And he said, ‘Notice those people looking over?’ I’m sitting there getting more and more self-conscious, even though I didn’t realize they weren’t looking at me. Suddenly, Pierce got up and introduced himself to everybody in the restaurant. At first I was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re like completely insane.’ But it worked. Everybody just relaxed and stopped staring and you could tell they were going to go home and say, ‘Pierce is such a nice guy.’

If you watched the Oscars, you may have noticed that in the middle of presenting a tribute to horror movies, she coughed — something that apparently a few websites criticized her about, for some reason.  When asked about it, she said:

Sometimes if you get a little bit nervous [you have to clear your throat].  And if I hadn’t, then I would’ve gotten criticized for not being able to speak. … The coughing [criticism] I did find funny.  This is going to baffle some people, but I was so proud of myself that night.  I was like, whoa, I didn’t fall down or anything.

She went onto explain that unlike other actors, she has a hard time remaining poised at all times:

It’s like, Dakota [Fanning] is far from being fake at all.  She’s become one of my best friends, and she’s a great girl, and so smart, and she speaks very well and presents herself in a certain way — and to a certain extent, I can’t be that way.  It’s weird, I have an incapability of acting if I’m not [actually acting].  I wear my heart on my sleeve.

Usually when stars don’t want to talk about a relationship, they play coy or refuse to answer.  Just a flat-out denial makes me think that whatever was happening isn’t happening anymore.

Or is she just totally lying?

When Cyrus joins Sparks in the stacks at Book Soup, he asks about her weekend: “What’d you do for fun? Out with Liam?”

Cyrus smiles widely. “At first, he was working, so I was cute,” she says. “I went and got him coffee, bought him an Elvis CD and went and gave it to him at the photo shoot.” …

Cyrus confesses that, well, she never finished the novel, originally published in hardcover last September. “With the book, I’ve only gotten through part of The Last Song,” Cyrus says sheepishly. “Because the movie started first.”

Sparks feigns being stricken, but then says: “I don’t know if I ever watched a Hannah Montana show. … Nothing personal. My daughters do every day.”

” ‘Nothing personal. I just hate her show,’ ” Cyrus says, laughing and mocking his voice.

“Fans are great,” he said. “The most crazy thing is when they rush you or try and tackle you. I don’t mind giving them hugs, but I’m a big guy, and when you see it in their face like they’re going to tackle you like a linebacker, it’s like ‘Hey, hey, security… watch out with this one’.

“But no, fans have been great. Some bring handcuffs. One literally yanked them out and wanted to take me home. That would’ve been fun, I think.”

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge.  In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf.  With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

The brief tease will be our very first look at footage from Eclipse.  The full teaser trailer debuts with Robert Pattinson’s new movie Remember Me this Friday.

It’s an exciting week to be a Twilight fan!

Liam has just been cast as the lead in Arabian Nights, a big-budget period action movie.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s about “a young commander (Hemsworth) who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad and Aladdin to rescue Queen Scheherazade.”

He’ll probably start shooting the movie by the end of the summer.  Way to go Liam!

Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas have already read lines for the upcoming film and are in contention for both Captain America and other characters in the film. … It was said Kevin Jonas had the better audition and was more natural. Its also been stated more casting still needs to take place before any decisions are made.

Consider this strictly a rumor.  The timing is right — they are casting the role right now — but Deadline Hollywood reported a couple weeks ago that the top contenders included actors like John Krasinski from The Office and Chase Crawford from Gossip Girl.  Still, it’s very possible that Kevin and Joe went in for an audition.

One can only hope. The important thing is people doing what they are truly passionate about and putting their heart and soul into it. Once you have that, people acknowledge that and hopefully ends you up on that stage.

One of her upcoming roles, for the movie Sucker Punch, doesn’t sound like an Oscar role but she’s excited about it nonetheless:

It’s coming out next year and I’m really excited about it. Everyone is finally going to see me kick some butt.

From the Twilight Twitter account comes the heads up that the official site for The Twilight Saga: New Moon just added a “release party finder” for the upcoming DVD and Blu-Ray release on the 20th.

Just go to newmoonthemovie.com and enter your zip code in the “Midnight DVD Release Party” box.  Then you can meet up with other Twilight fans while awaiting the release.  Pretty cool.
